About Joe Tex, Casper wrote:
Elvis also liked to watch EVERY program airing on broadcast television SIMULTANEOUSLY along with eating while taking a big, steaming dump. I don't think Elvis is the best endorsement one could have, hell, he approved of Nixon.

Really, Tex only made the ballot because Springsteen is a big fan and half of the nominating committee likes to jerk off to his music videos. It's these same connections that helped The Ronettes and Patti Smith amongst others although they were deserving. Joey Texas has a solid career record but it's still pretty minimal. If Joe Tex, then why not James Carr? If James Carr then why not, etc.

I can't really say I was a "fan" of the Beatles per se. They did influence me to want to play the guitar, though. Being 9 years old and having never heard anything like them, they did leave quite the impression on me...which of course led to other things...

Solomon Burke,James Brown,Rolling Stones,Carly Simon,Denise LaSalle,Johnny Cash,Ike and Tina Turner,Salt and Pepper, are just a few who recorded songs written by Joe Tex. For Joe Tex not to be in the Rock in Roll Hall of Fame shows that Some one didn't do there homework. Soul Country, Ask Dolly Parton, and even Elvis loved to watch Joe Tex perform.

Well for one, I'm busy. For two, I've said pretty much everything I had to say and don't really care to repeat it all for the convenience of people who can't be bothered to read.
