| Elvis also liked to watch EVERY program airing on broadcast television SIMULTANEOUSLY along with eating while taking a big, steaming dump. I don't think Elvis is the best endorsement one could have, hell, he approved of Nixon. Really, Tex only made the ballot because Springsteen is a big fan and half of the nominating committee likes to jerk off to his music videos. It's these same connections that helped The Ronettes and Patti Smith amongst others although they were deserving. Joey Texas has a solid career record but it's still pretty minimal. If Joe Tex, then why not James Carr? If James Carr then why not, etc. | |

They played the Shoreline on June 6,8 10, 11 & 12, 1994 during their "Hell Freezes Over" tour. The mazimum number of nights the Grateful Dead played at Shoreline was three and max for Springsteen was two. I'm talking about how many shows an artist played on one visit to the venue.

If you listen to "Helter Skelter" it has all the elements of Zep: Loud distorted guitar Frenzied drumming High pitched screaming I wonder if anyone ever asked Robert Plant if "Helter Skelter" inspired his vocal histrionics. Also "What Is And What Should Never borrows its chord progression from "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window" although in a different key. | The reason I didn't "chime in" with this conversation is because I've heard it all before multiple times. The Beatles aren't a band I find all too fascinating, really, so I'm obviously not always going to be fantastically keen on getting into a lengthy conversation about them. Interestingly, I never outright insulted you. In fact, your original comment is easily more insulting than mine, so you really don't have a leg to stand on. And no, you didn't ask me or William for our reasons at all. You gave some arrogant commentary of the situation, obviously as an attack at us. Next time I want psychological analysis of myself off of some wuss who doesn't even have the bottle to sign their real name on the internet, I'll ask for it. Which will be never.

All I did was ask why you hadn't chimed in with this interesting conversation regarding specific influence by the Beatles. From the first comment I ever read of yours right up until now, I had you figured as a loser. You are a no nothing wanker who can't find his own pud to pull, so you come here and try to be something you're not, like intelligent just so you can get off. By the way, there is no greatest album in the world. As for my favorite album, that would be Fun House by the Stooges. And remember Liam, Asswipes should never call anyone an asshole because in the end, you will be the one they use to clean themselves.

| To start, Nirvana and company was not the death of the Hair Bands; it was GnR. That aside, Appetite was not any better than Aerosmith's first 4 albums (nowhere near as good as "Rocks") and it certainly was not as influential as those same albums. It was a reinvention of that grittier sound of the early - mid 70's Hard Rock scene and it certainly should be commended. I very much thought "Lies" was an excellent album which moved across several different musical lines. And Illusion's was definitely their version of Physical Graffiti. If Axel wasn't such a knucklehead, this band could have done some impressive things. But in the end, they self-destructed. I certainly don't think they are first ballot HoFer's. But they so dominated the scene for 5 years and I think they will eventually get in because of it. I really enjoyed GnR, but they could have and should have been much more than what they were. Live Shows: I saw them twice; once as an opening act and once as a headliner. When Axel was on, the band was f'n amazing; when he was off, not so much. | |

Although that is false, if critics think that it is true and they do not like the Backstreet Boys (for whatever reason) then, they should be able to express themselves as those who do like the Backstreet Boys express themselves. I particularly like BSB. Even though I respect everyone else's thoughts on them, that doesn't mean I have to share in them. KTBSPA to all who supports BSB

| It's really hard to say whether GNR are gonna make the cut when it comes time. It does bring up the point of how influential a single album can be. I tried to read as many of the posts as I could (no way you can read them all) and most everyone who thinks they will get in uses "Appetite" as the main basis. The "Use You Illusion" albums are good, but the sum total never really stands up. If you can remember the Beatles documantary a ways back, I think it was Ringo who noted the White Album should have probably been a single disc. The way I see it, GNR get's in if all the good material get's pooled together into one body of work. On a ten point scale: "Appetite" - 9/10 "GNR Lies" - 8/10 "Use Your Illusion I - 6/10 "Use Your Illusion ii" - 6/10 GNR doesn't get in. "Appetite" - 9/10 GNR Lies" - 8/10 "Use Your Illusion" (combined) 9/10 GNR makes it first ballot. | |

The truth remains that based on how I have seen the RnR Hall of Fame go about their business when nominating and then voting, there is absolutely no chance this band will ever get in. Based on the criteria that has been set forth by the Hall, they will never get in. Sorry Boys. But don't let that stop the fans from screaming for them. Enjoy the music you love.
